Succesful Woman

It's a good question. Many people have the wrong idea of what it means, because they believe a successful woman is someone whose life has been a bed of roses: colourful, pleasant and with everything sorted. I assure you that this idyllic image is far from what that woman has really lived and experienced. A successful woman has, in most cases, made herself, and she is someone who has without doubt devoted herself to studying and learning about many different subjects; she does not necessarily need a university degree. There are many remarkable women who have overcome great obstacles without going to university, but she has certainly had to learn not only the practical side of her work but also a range of methods, techniques and tools, and she has mastered what she does. She is a woman who probably did not believe in herself at first, who found it hard to recognise and accept her own worth, who perhaps felt she was wrong many times and may even have felt great confusion and anguish at not finding her way, but who, even so, searched her labyrinth for ways out, options, tools and possibilities in the middle of the darkness. This successful woman loves what she does; she has discovered herself through a trade or a vocation, has found what makes her happy and enjoys doing it for others. She is creative in her work, whatever it is, because she puts her whole soul and spirit into what she brings to life, with her smile and her wisdom. A successful woman has overcome many difficult situations; at times she has met barriers from those she thought would support her, and she has found it hard to negotiate because, as a woman entrepreneur, she has had to face a male world where the paths are already laid out, there are rules and norms to follow and a common language already exists.
This successful woman will have to find the path that has not been laid out. Many times she will have to persuade her own family of what she wants, show them that it is valuable and well worth the effort of pursuing what she dreams of, not to mention that she will have to divide herself to remain the pillar of the home, the children's education, attention to her husband or care of her parents… Her success can also be seen in a family built with love, opening the way for her children through life, teaching, supporting, loving, guiding and also, why not, getting angry when the situation calls for it, to set limits or encourage goals that others want to reach but perhaps lack the courage or confidence for. A successful woman leaves her mark wherever she goes: on her family, on those around her and on other women with aspirations. A successful woman is a woman who collaborates, who is willing to help other women achieve their dreams, a woman who celebrates life day by day with her joy and with the legacy she leaves behind for those who follow in her footsteps…
