5 essential tips for bath time

Bath time can become a bitter moment for parents and children when we do not take the right precautions and decisions. But making it pleasant for everyone is very simple if we choose the ideal moment and organize everything necessary before bath time. Here are the 5 essential tips for bath time.

1. Choose the right time.

Bath time can be a relaxing and peaceful moment if we choose the perfect time in the day. For example, before bedtime, when homework is finished and everyone at home is getting ready to rest. This can also be part of or start our little ones' sleep routine.

An unsuitable time is when adults are in a hurry to get somewhere or do a task. Or when the little ones feel tired, or hungry, especially if we are talking about babies under 6 months old.

2. Prepare everything before wetting the baby.

The first baths of the baby will teach us that once we wet the little one it becomes impossible to move from place to look for a towel or any article that we have forgotten far from the bath or the bathtub. This is why it is especially important to prepare what is necessary before starting the bath.

Among the items we need are the bathtub, water thermometer, shampoo, soap, towel or robe, a change of clothes, diaper, and moisturizer. Let's remember how important it is not to lose sight of our little ones at bath time, even for a moment, since the bathtub is one of the places where accidents occur most frequently.

3. Check the temperature.

A relaxing bath will depend a lot on the temperature of the water, and to avoid conflicts between what is pleasant for one parent and what is not for the other, the best thing to do is to buy and have on hand a submersible bath thermometer. The water temperature should be similar to body temperature, i.e., between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.

4. Choose appropriate bath products.

Although there are many products for bath time for our little ones, we must choose those that are suitable for their age and skin type. You can ask your pediatrician or consult a pediatric dermatologist to find out which one is ideal. The biggest problem at bath time is usually eye irritation, so it is ideal to look for pH-neutral products.

5. Make it fun.

Bath time is an opportunity to learn and have fun, when our children reach an ideal age. As soon as your little one can sit up and stand on his own, you can introduce toys to the bathtub, it will be interesting for him to fill them with water, then empty them, watch how they float, and even play with the soap bubbles.

Our only recommendation is to implement suitable bath toys, which you can clean at the end of the bath to prevent them from storing water and creating mold. The same should be done with the bathtub at the end of the bath.
